Prizes and Awards

One of ESPGHAN’s aims is to encourage and help young practitioners to further their knowledge and the Society bestows a number of awards and prizes for this purpose.

AGM Prizes

Three prizes will be awarded during the meeting for the best abstract presentations, each award is presented for a value of €1,000 each.

The Annual Jean Rey Prize
For the best presentation on Nutrition

The Annual John Harries Prize
For the best presentation on Gastroenterology

The Annual Alex Mowat Prize
For the best presentation on Hepatology

ESPGHAN Awards

Young Investigator Awards

The purpose of this award is to help cover the expenses of Young Investigators presenting an accepted abstract at the Annual Meeting. The award is open to first authors, with less than 10 years’ experience in Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology or Nutrition, who are not members of ESPGHAN. A limited number of recipients will be selected among candidates based on the relative merit of accepted abstracts. Awards are available for up to €1,000 per applicant.

The closing date for applications to be received by the ESPGHAN Head Office is no later than 23 March 2012.

Please note that the following rules must be met by all candidates for the Young Investigator Award:

  1. To be the first author of the work being presented (may be checked against the final printed program).
  2. To be working in Paediatric Gastroenterology/Hepatology/Nutrition for less than 10 years.
  3. For reimbursement, the Treasurer needs to receive the original air or train ticket, the original hotel bill and a copy of the receipt of the registration fee.
  4. Applications will be accepted from both members and non-members of ESPGHAN

ESPGHAN AHP Award

The purpose of the award is to support expenses of up to €1,000 for Allied Health Professionals who have had an abstract accepted for presentation at the Annual ESPGHAN Meeting.

Please note that the following rules must be met by all candidates:

  1.  Candidates may be ESPGHAN AHP members or non-members.
  2.  Must be the first author of the work being presented (may be checked against the printed program)
  3.  To be working in Paediatric Gastroenterology/Hepatology/Nutrition
  4.  For reimbursement, the Treasurer needs to receive the original air or train ticket, the original hotel bill and a copy of the receipt of the registration fee.

Deadline for applications is Friday 23 March 2012.

Your application will be processed and then considered by the treasurer of ESPGHAN. You will then be notified by e-mail after the deadline if your application has been successful or unsuccessful. If your application is successful you will be sent an e-mail confirmation along with an expense form for you to complete after the Annual Meeting and return along with your receipts.
